Social Classes

Give your puppy the very best start, developing a range of skills that will help him or her throughout life. Socialisation is important for healthy behavioural development and for developing the ability to adapt to new things in puppy’s environment. Socialisation must be a good experience for puppy, in order to help develop confidence. Our experienced instructors will take your puppy through a range of novel experiences safely, ensuring that they are having fun and developing effective social and learning skills along the way. They will also be able to answer any questions about puppy raising, behaviour, social development and training that you may have (please note that instructors are not qualified to give veterinary advice).

All puppies MUST bring up to date paperwork on their vaccinations and worming to their first class.

This class is for dogs who are comfortable around small groups of dogs. The focus is on manners and safe socialisation, with different themes each month.

Pre-requisite:  one of the following;  6 Week Introductory Course, or Reactive Dogs (with permission).

The venue is usually (but not always): The Kennel Pavillion, Royal Hobart Showgrounds. Enter gates at Howard Rd, Derwent Park. The Kennel Pavillion is a large, green, steel building on your right as you enter.

This is a special class for dogs who have attended at least 4 classes with Every Dog previously. We will meet at an outdoor venue and instructors will lead a group walk with training exercises along the way.  The focus will be on good leash manners, social skills, and training with distractions – in other words, taking what you have learned in class into the real world.

Is this class suitable for reactive dogs?   In short, yes, it will be suitable for many reactive dogs and you should contact Ingrid by email, everydogtraining@gmail.com to see if your dog would benefit. We will be able to set most reactive dogs up for success in this class and venues will be chosen accordingly so that they are challenging without being overwhelming.

Will the walks be difficult?  Venues will be chosen for relatively easy access and walk duration will be between 30min and 40min. Venues are texted out to students on the day before class, but any questions can be directed to Ingrid at everydogtraining@gmail.com or ask on our facebook discussion group.

Will walks be cancelled in the event of bad weather?  Not usually, but if the weather is utterly miserable or dangerous please look out for a text message on your phone or an email if no mobile phone number is provided.

How will I know where the walk is being held? This class is tailored to suite it’s attendees, so we decide the location depending on which dogs we have booked in. You will be notified of the location the evening before via text message.

Refund policy:  you may cancel up to 24 hours before the start of a walk for a full refund using the link provided in the email you receive when you book this class. This is the only way to obtain a refund, we’re trying to keep costs down and places are strictly limited. If a walk is cancelled, you will receive a credit on your account which will be taken up with your next booking.

Welcome to Hike’n’Train! This is a similar class to our Walk’n’Train, but much longer and less formal training. It is open to those who have attended Walk’n’Train classes, but may not be suitable for everyone.

Hike n Train class locations are decided ahead of schedule, and may be held further away from Hobart than our regular Walk n Train classes. If you are unsure if this would suit you then please check with your instructor.

There are a maximum of six spaces, and instructors bring their dogs as well. Typically we aim for about a 3 hour hike, but times may vary.

A class for strengthening the bond between you and your dog, improving your training skills, and most of all for having fun! A flexible class where you get to decide what to learn!
